The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) is responsible for the seat allocation process for admissions to various IITs, NITs, IIITs, and other GFTIs (Government Funded Technical Institutes). It streamlines the process by conducting centralized counselling based on JEE Main and JEE Advanced ranks.

Navigate to the official JoSSA website . Ensure you are on official website to avoid any fraudulent sites.

Use your JEE Main or JEE Advanced roll number and password to log in. If you have forgotten your password, use the recovery options provided

03.Fill Personal Details:

Provide personal information such as name, parents' names, date of birth, and contact details. Fill in your academic details, including your JEE Main/Advanced scores and rank.

04.Submit:

Review all entered details for accuracy. Submit the registration form to complete the process.

Choice Filling and Locking

Select and finalize your preferred courses and institutions:

1.Choice Filling:

  • Log in to your JoSAA account.
  • You will see a list of participating institutes and their available programs as per your RANK
  • Based on your preference, fill in the courses and colleges in order of priority.

2.Mock Allocation:

  • Participate in the mock seat allocation rounds to get an idea of which seats you might get.
  • Mock allocations help you adjust your choices for a better outcome.

3.Modify Choices:

  • Based on the mock allocation results, you can rearrange or change your choices.
  • This step is crucial for optimizing your chances of getting your preferred seat.

4.Lock Choices:

  • Once you are satisfied with your choices, lock them.
  • Be sure to do this before the deadline, as unlocked choices will not be considered.
  • Download and save a copy of the locked choices for future reference.

Seat Allocation Process

Understand how seats are allocated:

1.Seat Allocation Rounds:

  • JoSAA conducts multiple rounds of seat allocation based on your rank, category, and the choices filled.
  • Results for each round are announced on the JoSAA portal.

2.Acceptance of Seat:

  • If you are allotted a seat, you must accept it by paying the seat acceptance fee.
  • Choose between options: ‘Freeze’ (accept the allotted seat), ‘Float’ (consider better options in subsequent rounds), or ‘Slide’ (move to a higher preferred choice within the same institute).

Document Verification

Prepare and verify essential documents:

  1. Required Documents:

Reporting to Allotted Institution

Finalize your admission by reporting to the institution:

    • Submit the verified documents to the institute’s admission office.
    • Ensure you have all required documents as mentioned in the allotment letter.
  3. Fee Payment:

PAYMENT PROCEDURES
Ensure timely payments to secure your seat:

  1. Seat Acceptance Fee:
    • The fee for seat acceptance is Rs. 35,000 for General category candidates and Rs. 15,000 for SC, ST, and PwD candidates.
    • Payment can be made online via net banking, credit/debit cards, or through e-challan.
  2. Institutional Fees:
    • After seat acceptance, each institute has its own fee structure.
    • Follow the institute’s instructions for the payment of tuition and other fees.
    • Keep receipts of all payments for future reference.
